Shoring up your cybersecurity posture in light of ongoing crisis
Trend Micro is closely monitoring the Russian invasion of Ukraine. There is potential for worldwide cyber attacks outside the immediate region. Organizations should be aware of this very real scenario and put themselves in a position to protect themselves. Since cyber attacks may take on a range of tactics, it is important that customers prepare for a variety of situations rather than focusing on a single type of threat. We have included three key recommendations: – Revisit your overall security posture and ensure that you have fully deployed and properly configured your protection around best practices – similar to fortifying your environment against ransomware and destructive attacks. Enable specific controls, such as ransomware protection and behavioral monitoring, and make sure EDR is deployed on critical assets. – Ensure all products and technology have the latest updates and patches – many attacks start with exploits of known vulnerabilities that may have already been patched. Take note of high-severity vulnerabilities and external-facing servers and infrastructure. – Be vigilant around suspicious activity in your network and digital environment. Pay attention to new/unusual traffic and abnormal activity within operations. Monitor detection alerts and request assistance if needed. We have provided resources to outline current information and recommendations and will continue to update as the situation unfolds: Trend Micro Security Alert: Recommendations for enhanced security posture in light of heightened global cyber threat activity Trend Micro Enterprise Blog – Global Cyberattacks: Managing risk in chaotic times Trend Micro Enterprise Blog – Ukraine Cyberattack 2022: Geopolitical Cybersecurity Trend Micro Consumer Blog – Keeping safe with Trend Micro Security during these uncertain times Trend Micro researchers and threat hunters are monitoring the landscape for new attacks/threats and will update our detection and protection.
