We are starting to see the next evolvement of the security device.  Vendors start the land grab of companies that they can integrate technologies with, to grab this next niche in the security ladder – SIEM (Security Information and Event Management).  Traditionally hardware security vendors have only collected and monitored data that their own appliances generate.  What if you could collect data from other devices around the network and use that to better analyze and protect the network?

There is nothing really new in the collection of the data from devices around the network, but being able to apply that information directly to endpoints or the firewall has great advantages.  I am sure we will see a good number more purchases over the coming months.

This new service will provide customers with automated security and performance audits of their specific security infrastructure and advisories to help prevent unplanned service disruptions as well as prevent problems before they impact performance and service delivery.
• AccelOps currently serves hundreds of clients across numerous vertical industries, including a strong presence in the Enterprise, Government, and Managed Service Provider segments. This acquisition builds on Fortinet’s already significant and growing total addressable market, with entry into the $2 billion SIEM market, which Gartner projects to grow to $2.9 billion by 2019.
