WatchGuard and Panda Security secure top marks in techconsult’s “Professional User Rating: Security Solutions 2021”

Body

Hamburg, 18 January 2021

For the fifth time, techconsult analysts have asked users to assess the security solutions available on the market in a total of six product areas as part of a representative study. Based on the results – a total of 60 criteria were evaluated in 14 subcategories – the performance of individual security providers and solutions can be compared in a targeted manner. WatchGuard is at the forefront of both the “Virtual Private Network (VPN)” and “Endpoint Protection” product areas. After the company emerged as one of the top providers with its VPN solutions last year, the US manufacturer was once again able to position itself as a “champion” in techconsult diamonds. At the same time, Panda Security, as a specialist in endpoint security, which was acquired by WatchGuard in 2020, enjoys high user support in its competitive environment and thus also ranks confidently in the ranks of the best rated security forges.

“The current study is extremely relevant to us in two ways,” said Michael Haas, Regional Vice President Central Europe at WatchGuard Technologies. “Ultimately, both VPN and Endpoint Protection are aspects of IT security that have become hugely important in the wake of Corona. Being among the best here shows that we can take adequate and comprehensive account of current circumstances. On the other hand, the results are an important proof of the performance of our overall portfolio. Last but not least, they confirm that we have done everything right with the acquisition of Panda Security – in the interests of all parties involved.” As part of the integration of Panda’s endpoint security products into its own range of products, WatchGuard is now primarily concerned with further expanding the synergies between the respective product segments for customers and partners. “Our goal is to precisely match the impact of individual security solutions and our support and to play them to the fore across portfolios. In this way, we optimally and from a single source reflect the current and future requirements on the part of our partners and customers,” says Haas.

VPN: WatchGuard shines in information, consulting and further education services

WatchGuard prevails over the competition in the “VPN” product area in particular: In the “User Support” category, the manufacturer, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, secures the top position with information, consulting and further education services. A result that Michael Haas is particularly pleased about: “The topic of IT security is becoming increasingly complex. For this reason, we have been doing everything we can for years to make everyday life easier for our partners and customers with specific help in the form of documentation, webinars, trainings, best practices, solution descriptions and application examples. It is nice to see that these initiatives are falling on fertile ground.” At the same time, WatchGuard scores highly with regard to many other criteria of the extensive manufacturer and solution evaluation and can thus hold its own in the “champions” environment of the ranking. A total of 21 providers were registered.

Innovative and reliable endpoint protection from Panda Security

According to techconsult, Panda Security also plays in the high-level “Security Champions League” – in this case in the product area “Endpoint Protection”. Here, only 18 out of 32 market-relevant manufacturers have made the leap into the diamond of the analyst house. The expert for Endpoint Security, who has been demonstrating his strengths under the watch guard since mid-2020, has clearly above-average ratings, especially in the categories “Innovation”, “Manufacturer Loyalty”, “Performance”, “Solution Benefits” and “Functionality”.

About the “Professional User Rating: Security Solutions”

More than 2,000 application experts from security solutions participated in the “Professional User Rating: Security Solutions 2021” (PUR-S: https://www.techconsult.de/pur-s-2021) and evaluated the performance of various IT security providers in six product areas. The evaluation of the manufacturers within the solution areas was carried out in the dimensions Company Rating and Technology/Solution Rating with more than 60 criteria in 14 subcategories. The Professional User Rating provides companies with a solid basis for selecting suitable solutions for individual use and prioritizing them in the selection process in comparison with their own criteria from the wide RANGE of IT security offerings. A high level of practical relevance is ensured by the fact that the evaluations come from the ranks of organisations that use the solutions themselves.
